Gundy: Clint Chelf “will go out there first’ vs. Miss. St.

In late July, Mike Gundy let the whole college football world know that he would not be naming a starter at quarterback until the kickoff of No. 13 Oklahoma State’s season opener.

With that opening kickoff just a couple of hours away, Gundy has let the quarterback cat out of the bag.

During a segment that appeared on ESPN‘s “College GameDay” show Saturday morning, the head coach acknowledged that Clint Chelf " will go out there first” when the Cowboys take the field against Mississippi State. Chelf and J.W. Walsh have been involved in a quarterback competition that stretches back to the 2012 season.

While Chelf will get the start, Gundy said both quarterbacks will play. Exactly how the reps will be divvied up was something the coach would not, obviously, divulge.
