Knee issue prompts Silas Redd to see renowned orthopedist

A lingering knee injury kept Silas Redd from traveling with his USC teammates to the opener in Hawaii.

The latest news coming from the player doesn’t bode well for his availability for the near future, either.

In a tweet posted to his Twitter account Saturday night, the Trojans running back thanked athletic director Pat Haden and head coach Lane Kiffin “for allowing me to come down to Pensacola to see Dr. James Andrews, the best at what he does!”  Andrews is the world-renowned orthopedic surgeon who is charged with the ligaments and tendons of some of the most high-profile athletes in the country.

USC has not commented on when, or even if, Redd will return to the playing field.

Redd, the Trojans leading rusher in 2012, missed the latter half of spring practice with a knee injury.  The injury bled into summer camp and, ultimately, kept the back out of the season-opening win.

I feel bad that Silas Redd is injured. It’s possible that if he remained at Penn State, this may not have happened. I wish for a full recovery. That is all I have to say.

gamecocker is fowl! injuries have nothing to do with transferring….and silas did nothing wrong by leaving a poor PSU situation (which you’re implying otherwise)

Well at least Silas will get to lay up in the lap of luxury to get his knee attended to… Andrews has a top knotch resort style facility in PC.

NCAA will be in LA investigating the details of the travel arrangements and appointment setting process on Tuesday. Meanwhile, on Tuesday evening, Johnny Football will be holding a signing show at Texas A&M’s cafeteria.

Here’s a crazy idea, focus on your studies and earn a degree?

The guy said going to USC was a “business choice” and the AD keeps saying how much a USC degree is worth, why don’t they all put their money where their mouth is and just let the kid finish his degree and enter the work force?

Seriously RB is the most downgraded position in the NFL now anyway, unless your Trent Richardson you’ll probably not going to get drafted in the first round anyway.

Take that piece of paper in basket weaving and get a day job like everybody else. Spend your lunch time telling everyone how you use to play football, like 90% of all men in the office.

Again..Penn State hid and lied about a CHILD molester. Don’t blame Silas for wanting as far away from all of the left over scum as he could get. Saying it serves him right for getting injured is just wrong and retarded.

“Wrong and retarded” seems to be as good a self-description as any.
