Illinois’ depth at the running back position has taken a hit thanks to a non-injury issue involving one of its player.
The Illini announced via a press release Tuesday that Dami Ayoola has been dismissed from the football program. Other than the standard violation of unspecified team rules, no reason for the dismissal was given.
The sophomore had been the Illini’s No. 3 back but did not play in the season opener.
Last season, Ayoola appeared in 11 games as a true freshman. He was third among Illini running backs with 117 yards.
