Eminem joins ND-UM broadcast, Twitter explodes

I can’t begin to tell you how many times over the past several years I’ve wondered what it would be like if Eminem set up shop in the broadcast booth of a college football game, even if for just a few minutes at halftime.

Thankfully, my wondering — and that of most of North America, undoubtedly — is over.

During halftime of the Notre Dame-Michigan game, the rapper formerly/currently known as Marshall Mathers joined Brent Musburger and Kirk Herbstreit in the broadcast booth in what could only be described as the American version of a Dennis Rodman/Kim Jong-un sitdown.  While Eminem was there to premier his new video for a song that will be used on Saturday Night Football, the discussion inevitably led to Musburger discussing NFL point spreads with Mr. Mathers and OMG I can now cross that off my bucket list and die happy.

For those who missed it, yes, it was as real and spectacular as it sounds.  And, thanks to Land-Grant Holy Land, we have photographic proof of the historic development:

Eminem

Suffice to say, Twitter exploded in a Miley-twerking kind of way.  Below is but a small sampling of what was being said in the wake of the greatest thing that’s ever happened in the history of ‘Merica.

That was just….weird as hell. I, as a viewer, actually felt uncomfortable FOR all three of them. And myself.

Missed it, but the brilliant thing is that I’m DVR’ing this game. Excuse me while I pause the action to watch the halftime show. Only for a Musberger/Eminem summit would I stop a live game that’s this tight to go back and watch halftime! ROFLOL!

That was absolutely horrendous. Whoever thought this was a good idea should be fired.

Good to know I wasn’t the only one feeling clueless.

Aw … it wasn’t that bad. Not as high on the creepy scale as Musberger’s preoccupation with A.J. McCarron’s girlfriend. At least Herbstreit got Eminem’s humor :)

Love the picture. It looks like Eminem is scared that either Herbstreit or Musberger might just decide to tear him limb from limb, just for fun.

Could you imagine ABC doing that with Keith Jackson in the booth? Me neither. I hate these cross promotions more than anything.

That Axl Rose comment was awesome.

It was … Awkward. Em’s either still doing a lot of drugs, or suffering a major case of PTSD over the Detroit bankruptcy.

At least, it wasn’t as creepy as Brent gawking over AJ McCarron’s girlfriend…

It was, IMHO, about the same as the useless crap that passes for halftime banter.

Brent wasn’t gawking over McCarron’s girlfried…get over it.

I’m surprised old fart Brent even knew who Eminem was. But, regardless, that interview made it abundantly obvious that Eminem is a total retard.

    @cometkazie …

Your humble opinion is dead on as usual :)

    Thanks, Deb.

Astoundingly awkward for a guy who performs in front of huge crowds for a living. He obviously didn’t want to be there and that showed. And even if he’d come across great, what is the benefit for him? Just a bad idea all the way around.
