Broken collarbone sidelines Duke QB indefinitely

Duke managed to pick up a win on Saturday against Memphis, winning 28-14, but the victory has come at a cost. Quarterback Anthony Boone suffered a broken collarbone and will be out of action for the Blue Devils indefinitely.

Duke head coach David Cutcliffe announced the injury news about Boone today and there is currently no expectation as to when he might return to the football field.

In the meantime, Duke will have no other option than to go with redshirt junior Brandon Connette under center. Duke lists just two quarterbacks on their depth chart on a weekly basis and through the first two weeks the depth charts have included Boone and Connette. Connette has shown he is capable of leading the offense after passing for 198 yards and two touchdowns against Memphis.

The Blue Devils will move true freshman Parker Boehme up on the depth chart to back up Connette. Boehme, a dual threat quarterback out of Florida, was a three-star recruit according to the 247 Sports composite rankings. He enrolled at Duke on January 1 so was available for the spring, which means he should have at least a grasp of the offense in the event he is needed to take over the offense at any point.
