Tide loses DE Dalvin Tomlinson to season-ending injury

Expected to be a part of Alabama’s defensive line rotation this season, Dalvin Tomlinson will instead the remainder of the year rehabbing a rather significant leg injury.

During his weekly Monday press conference, head coach Nick Saban confirmed that the defensive end will not play the remainder of the 2013 season due to a knee injury. The redshirt freshman underwent surgery last Friday.

The injury occurred during a practice session last Wednesday.

Tomlinson was listed as the No. 2 defensive end on the Tide’s most recent depth chart. He played in the season-opening win over Virginia Tech and was credited with four tackles.

Tomlinson was a four-star member of the Tide’s 2012 recruiting and redshirted as a true freshman last year. A big reason for that redshirt is a knee injury Tomlinson sustained during a high school soccer game prior to enrolling at UA.
