UF’s Jeff Driskel on crutches, should be OK for Vols game

Knowing how some Florida fans reacted to the loss to Miami Saturday, we don’t know whether this will be taken as good news or bad.

During the second quarter of the bruising affair, starting Gators quarterback Jeff Driskel suffered what the team has confirmed as a slight sprain of the knee. Driskel, the Palm Beach Post reports, was seen walking around campus this morning with the aid of crutches.

The good news, if you’re a Driskel fan, is that the Gators have a bye this weekend and Driskel should be fine for the Sept. 21 game against Tennessee.

The other UF injury news, though, is not nearly as clear.

The availability of four starters for the UT Game -- LT D.J. Humphries (sprained MCL), linebacker Darrin Kitchens (oblique) and cornerbacks Marcus Roberson (strained PCL) and Loucheiz Purifoy (back) -- is currently unknown and likely won’t be decided until some point next week.
