ACL tear sidelines Gopher starting corner

Minnesota has officially suffered what’s described by head coach Jerry Kill as a “blow to our football team.”

Cornerback Briean Boddy-Calhoun suffered what was believed to be a very significant knee injury on the third play of this past weekend’s game against New Mexico State. That dire prognosis was unfortunately accurate as Kill confirmed Tuesday that the defensive back has been diagnosed with a torn ACL.

As a result, obviously, Boddy-Calhoun will miss the remainder of the 2013 season.

Boddy-Calhoun started the first two games of the season, and returned an interception 89 yards for a touchdown in the opener. That was the third-longest INT return in school history.
