Pac-12 suspends Oregon State RB for late hit

Larry Scott AP

Oregon State senior running back Jovan Stevenson has been suspended by the Pac-12 for the first half of his team’s next game for his late hit on a defenseless opponent during the Beavers’ game with Hawaii on Saturday, Pac-12 Commissioner Larry Scott announced on Tuesday.

Stevenson will miss the first half of OSU’s game this Saturday at Utah.  His penalty came with 26 seconds left in the first half against Hawaii when he was called for unnecessary roughness during a Beaver punt return.

This disciplinary action is result of the weekly review conducted by the Pac-12 office of all unsportsmanlike conduct and player safety fouls.

Stevenson ran for 229 yards as a 2011 sophomore but has been relegated mostly to special teams since then, so the Beavers run game shouldn’t be affected against the Utes.
