Pac-12 suspends Oregon State RB for late hit

Larry Scott AP

Oregon State senior running back Jovan Stevenson has been suspended by the Pac-12 for the first half of his team’s next game for his late hit on a defenseless opponent during the Beavers’ game with Hawaii on Saturday, Pac-12 Commissioner Larry Scott announced on Tuesday.

Stevenson will miss the first half of OSU’s game this Saturday at Utah. ┬áHis penalty came with 26 seconds left in the first half against Hawaii when he was called for unnecessary roughness during a Beaver punt return.

This disciplinary action is result of the weekly review conducted by the Pac-12 office of all unsportsmanlike conduct and player safety fouls.

Stevenson ran for 229 yards as a 2011 sophomore but has been relegated mostly to special teams since then, so the Beavers run game shouldn’t be affected against the Utes.
