Clemson wide receiver Charone Peake has been lost for the remainder of the 2013 season, Dabo Swinney announced Wednesday. Peake suffered a torn ACL in practice this week and will apply for a medical red shirt according to a report by Clemson 247.

The junior wide receiver had been starting for Clemson this season so his loss is significant. The Tigers have options to play with, including moving Sammy Watkins to a different position to help open things up. Filing the extra spot in the starting receiving unit will be Adam Humphries. Humphries, a junior, played in all 13 games for the Tigers last season, catching 41 passes for 280 yards and one touchdown.

Peake had eight catches for 84 yards and a touchdown through two games this season and played in all 13 games for Clemson in 2012.

Clemson is off this weekend but will be on the road next week. Clemson visits North Carolina State for a Thursday night game in ACC play.

It might not hurt them at first, but they’ll definitely feel it against Florida State and especially @ South Carolina, and if they survive all of that, the ACC Championship.

I hate to say Clemson is due to underachieve AGAIN…but that’s who they are. Be it injuries or ineffective play.

Underachieve like winning the Chick-fil-a bowl and beating a top-tier SEC team like the end of last year to finish at 11-2? Yeah I’m okay with them being that way.

You know your school is a joke when winning a non-BCS bowl is a banner year for the program

The CFA bowl is right outside the BCS and is going to be one of the playoff bowls for the upcoming national championship. Clemson also has a national championship. Clearly you’re knowledge of college football is the funniest joke on this website.

while it sucks that we have lost Peake for the year, I am not very worried at all. Still have Sammy, still have Bryant, still have Humphries, as well as Seckinger, Leggett, Mike Williams, Germone Hopper…. and don’t forget the receiving ability of Zac Brooks… and we have a good run game.

Too much depth at the position to worry at all.

and if Clemson is “due” for anything… its going undefeated! I mean I’m sure I will be nervously shaking in a few games, but I have more confidence this year then ever before…
