Purdue’s leading receiver out at least a game

With the Big Ten opener just off on the horizon, and with a matchup against a traditional looming this weekend, Purdue’s passing attack may have suffered a significant blow.

Starting tight end Gabe Holmes injured his wrist during practice on Tuesday and has already been ruled out of the Notre Dame game this weekend. The injury could keep Holmes out a lot longer than that, though, as head coach Darrell Hazell labeled the wrist issue as being “pretty serious.”

The results of an MRI taken shortly after the injury will determine the extent of the issue and how long the senior will be sidelined.

Ross leads all Boilermaker receivers this season with nine catches for 69 yards.
