Braxton Miller a no-go for Buckeyes

If Ohio State is to extend the nation’s longest winning streak, it’ll have to do so without the services of its All-Big Ten quarterback.

Injured in last week’s win over San Diego State, Braxton Miller has been held out of this evening’s non-conference road game against Cal. The junior suffered a sprained MCL early on in the SDSU game and did not return.

Head coach Urban Meyer said after that game that Miller could’ve returned if needed.

Early on in the week, Meyer was quoted as saying he thought there was “a chance” Miller could play this weekend. By mid-week, the coach was “fairly optimistic.” By week’s end, however, Miller’s prospects for suiting up were less optimistic.

With Miller out, senior Kenny Guiton will line up under center for the No. 4 Buckeyes. Filling in for Miller last weekend, Guiton performed well in his first extended action in a while, accounting for three touchdowns (two passing, one rushing) in the 35-point win.

It will mark the first start of Guiton’s career.
