UCF to get starting LT back for Gamecocks

Latavius Murray, Torrian Wilson AP

As part of its 3-0 start to the 2013 season, UCF “upset” Penn State in Happy Valley this past Saturday without having its top offensive lineman at its disposal.  When the Knights look to upset another team from an AQ conference the weekend after next, though, they should be at full strength in the trenches.

During a radio interview Monday morning, head coach George O’Leary confirmed that starting left tackle Torrian Wilson will be healthy enough to play in the home game against No. 11 South Carolina Sept. 28.  Wilson did not play in the win over FIU after injuring his knee during practice in the week leading up to the non-conference game, and underwent an arthroscopic procedure.

With Wilson out, the line did play well enough to allow quarterback Blake Bortles to be named the American Athletic Conference’s Offensive Player of the Week.

Last season, Wilson started all 14 games for the Knights and was a second-team All-Conference USA performer.  He had started the first two games of the 2013 season as well.

O’Leary also noted that starting linebacker Willie Mitchell was suspended for the FIU game for undisclosed reasons.  Mitchell will play against the Gamecocks as well.

Will be interesting. SC barely survived Vandy after they fumbled the punt on the 6 yd line with Vandy down 10.

But I still look to see SC roll in this game.
