Kansas among three future series announced by Houston

At the same time Texas Tech was releasing the details of a future four-game series with Houston, that school was releasing details on two other series to which they had agreed.

On Sept. 14, 2019, UH athletic director Mack Rhoades announced, the Cougars will host Kansas in the first game of their home-and-home-series. A year later, the Cougars will travel to Lawrence Sept. 12 for a non-conference game.

The 2019 game will mark just the fourth meeting between the two schools. The Jayhawks have won all three previous meetings, the latest coming in the Fort Worth Bowl following the 2005 regular season.

Additionally, Rhoades announced a future home-and-home with FBS newbie Texas State. That series opens in Houston on Sept. 26, 2015, before the Cougars travel to Bobcat Stadium in San Marcos Sept. 13, 2016.

Those two programs have met five times.

As was the case with the Texas Tech series, all of the future home games announced today by UH will be played at their new on-campus stadium, scheduled for completion in time for the start of the 2014 season

“We are pleased to announce home-and-home agreements with three additional programs in Texas Tech, Kansas and Texas State as we continue to fill future non-conference slots,” Rhoades said. “As we’ve said in the past, we are committed to scheduling quality programs in series that reward our fans with those teams traveling to Houston as well. With our passionate fan base and soon-to-be completed stadium, the University of Houston offers an exciting college football atmosphere.”
