Record point spreads for Miami, Ohio State, UCLA

This is a bit of a down weekend in college football but that will not prevent many from placing a few wagers, right? After all, what’s football without the all-important betting line from Las Vegas? This weekend three teams will be looking to cover school-record point spreads as favorites.

According to RJ Bell of Pregame.com, Miami, UCLA and Ohio State all have the largest point spreads in their respective histories this weekend. Ohio State and Miami are hosting FCS programs while UCLA is playing host to New Mexico State, a cast-off from the sinking of the WAC.

This week, Miami-Fl -60, Ohio State -50, and UCLA -42.5 are each favored by the most points in school history.

The Miami Hurricanes are a 60-point favorite against FCS Savannah State, a program used to playing the role of massive underdog in exchange for a nice paycheck. Last season Savannah State opened their schedule with an 84-0 loss at Oklahoma State and a 55-0 loss at Florida State. The program received some criticism for playing those games but the bottom line proved to be more important to the school’s financial interests than whatever national pundits may have had to say about the mismatches.

Ohio State will host Florida A&M. The Rattlers have played an FBS opponent each year dating back to 2009 and have been outscored 232-46. This may have ben a season highlighted by a number of FCS upsets of FBS teams, but do not expect Miami or Ohio State to be the next victim.
