T.J. Yeldon sees your half-game suspension, Johnny Football... and slashes it in half.
Earlier this week, the Alabama running back publicly apologized for a unsportsmanlike conduct penalty he received during the Tide’s win over Texas A&M. The penalty, which came after the back gave the universal money gesture as well as a twin throat-slash following a second-quarter touchdown run, incensed head coach Nick Saban both during and after the game.
Incensed Saban so much, in fact, that it will cost the sophomore 25 percent of the Tide’s upcoming game.
At least that’s the story from the Anniston Star, which, citing a source close to the situation, reports that Yeldon will be suspended for the first quarter of UA’s home opener against Colorado State Saturday. The school has yet to confirm any type of punitive measures Yeldon may be facing this weekend.
Yeldon leads the Tide with 224 yards and two touchdowns through two games.
In his apology, Yeldon stated the actions that resulted in the penalty “is not the way I want to represent myself, my family and our team” and “is not the way we do things at Alabama.”
“That’s not us. That’s not our program. That’s not what we do. We’ve never ever tolerated it and we’ve never ever had it,” Saban said in his postgame talk with the media.
