SJSU’s all-time leading receiver out indefinitely

Noel Grigsby, Alex Carter AP

Rebounding from a Week 2 loss to Stanford, not to mention preparing for the Mountain West opener a week from today, just got a whole heck of a lot harder for San Jose State.

A school spokesperson confirmed to the San Jose Mercury News Thursday that wide receiver Noel Grigsby did not travel with the team yesterday and will not play in Saturday’s game against Minnesota.  Grigsby suffered a knee injury of unknown severity during practice Wednesday.

The SJSU official said Grigsby is out indefinitely.

Another test, but yet another portion to add to my testimony,” Grigsby wrote on Twitter Thursday evening. “To God be the Glory.”

The loss of the senior, regardless for how long, is a significant blow to the Spartans’ offense.

With 237 career receptions, Grigsby is the school’s all-time leader in that category.  Not only that, Grigsby leads all current FBS receivers in career catches.

Grigsby is second on the Spartans this season with 10 receptions and 106 yards, and leads the team with two touchdown catches.
