Baylor’s offense should be illegal

Talk all you want about Oregon, but the best offense in the country right now resides in Waco.

Baylor continued its torrid offensive pace on Saturday against Louisiana-Monroe, scoring six touchdowns in the first 16 minutes of the game to jump out to a 42-0 lead on a team that was good enough to beat Wake Forest last week.

Quarterback Bryce Petty was 9 of 13 for 252 yards and three touchdowns during that stretch. The touchdowns covered 63, 47 and 66 yards. On the year, Petty is averaging an other-worldly 17 yards per pass attempt. His favorite target has been Antwan Goodley, who caught five passes for 156 yards and two scores. Goodley is now averaging 26 yards per catch this season.

Oh and the Bears put up these numbers while holding the ball for just three minutes.

Can Petty and Baylor keep this up? What defenses will be able to stop, or even slow down, this attack?

Looking at the schedule, it’s hard to see a defense that will be able to do it. As good as Baylor was with Robert Griffin III, these Bears may be even better.
