Texas QB Ash knocked out of Kansas State game with head injury

If Texas is going to beat Kansas State, it will have to do so without David Ash.

The junior quarterback suffered a head injury in the first half against Kansas State and won’t return.

Ash was dealt a concussion in the Longhorns’ loss to BYU two weeks ago and he then sat out last week’s loss to Ole Miss. He returned to practice this week and started against the Wildcats, completing 14 of 25 for 166 yards and one touchdown. Texas led, 17-7, with him at quarterback.

Mack Brown turned to Case McCoy to protect that lead in the second half, though true freshman Tyrone Swoopes was also available.

It looks like Brown isn’t ready to burn Swoopes’ redshirt just yet, though. The talented frosh will have to wait his turn.
