Turf toe sidelines Nebraska’s Taylor Martinez

Throughout this past week, the status of Taylor Martinez (no relation) was very much up in the air due to a toe injury injury.

Shortly before kickoff, the starting quarterback’s status was clarified, and in the way most had expected.

Martinez did not dress for the Cornhuskers’ game against South Dakota State, with the offensive reins being handed over to Tommy Armstrong. The non-conference game against the FCS foe marks Armstrong’s first career start.

Armstrong has played in one game this season and has yet to attempt a pass.

Martinez had started 32 straight games for the Huskers, which dates back to his redshirt freshman season in 2010.
