For those Miami fans concerned that their starting quarterback’s injury may have been worse than what was initially thought, you can rest easy.
Stephen Morris suffered what was originally described only as a lower-leg injury in the first quarter of the Hurricanes’ 77-7 laugher against Savannah State. After leaving the game, the starter did not return.
Updating Morris’ status Sunday, head coach Al Golden said that the senior suffered a bone bruise and not an ankle sprain -- or even the dreaded high-ankle sprain -- that some had feared. Golden said Morris is “absolutely” expected to play in this Saturday’s game at USF.
Ryan Williams, a former starter at Memphis before transferring to the ‘Canes, replaced Morris and completed 11-of-13 passes for 178 yards and two touchdowns.
