Just a few days ahead of a game against an in-state rival, the interior of East Carolina’s defensive line has taken a significant hit.
Pirates head coach Ruffin McNeill announced Tuesday that he has indefinitely suspended nose tackle Terry Williams. The two-year starter was, of course, suspended for violating unspecified team rules.
The punitive measure means Williams will miss at least this Saturday’s road game against North Carolina. The Pirates’ next six games after that come against Conference USA foes.
“The expectation for every member of our program has always been that they must earn the right to represent East Carolina University and that they will be held accountable for their actions on and off the field,” McNeill said in a statement “[Williams] did not adhere to the conduct standards we have in place.”
The junior started nine games last season and all three games this year.
