Iowa State will get its most experienced offensive lineman back from injury as center Tom Farniok has been slated to start this Thursday against Tulsa.
Farniok went down with a sprained medial collateral ligament in the opener against Northern Iowa on Aug. 31. He’s been wearing a brace ever since and rehabbing to work his way back.
It was originally thought that he wouldn’t be back until ISU opened Big 12 play in early October, but his rehab went quicker than expected.
The 0-2 Cyclones could sure use the crafty junior. ISU is 101st nationally in rushing yards per game and is averaging just 3.3 yards per carry. Farniok appears confident he can help, especially since the Cyclones were down to their third-string center:
Tulsa allows an average of 199 rushing yards per game. With Farniok back, look for ISU to try to get its ground game rolling again.
