Meyer’s quarterback question is one every coach wants

Braxton Miller AP

After sitting out against Florida A&M, quarterback Braxton Miller will return to Ohio State’s starting lineup to take on Wisconsin. Miller’s return to the starting lineup means the Buckeyes will leave Kenny Guiton on the sideline despite playing very well in Miller’s absence.

“I think Braxton will probably start,” Meyer said Wednesday. “He had a good day today and it looks like he’s pretty close to 100 percent. I just wanted to make sure running the ball he’s good, too. And he was.”

So, what to do with two quarterbacks? Could Meyer find a way to use both Miller and Guiton in the offense, keeping opposing defensive coordinators up all night in the week leading up to their game with the Buckeyes?

“We’re still working through exactly how we’re going to use them, to manage the game,” he said. “But they both look good.”

If nothing else, Ohio State knows they have some options to play with. Meyer has handled this sort of situation before, at Florida. Whether Meyer looks to return to a scheme that utilizes two quarterbacks or not remains to be seen, but it will certainly be something Wisconsin will have to think about this weekend in Columbus.

“I’ve had experience playing two in 2006 and it’s hard,” Meyer said, referring to former Gators quarterbacks Chris Leak and Tim Tebow. “When a guy gets a hot hand, or if he doesn’t get the hot hand, then when does he go back in? That’s a decision I can only make by myself. So we’ll see.”

As much as I choke on these words… they’ve done a very good job developing both of them.

@MSS… nice job voting thumbs up on your own post… but at least you’re hopeful… and never provide any real content or accuracy.

Urb should figure out a way to keep Guiton on the field… Put him in as a back or receiver and run some option passes….

Kind of chilly this morning across the midwest. I wonder if Hoke was sweating in his short sleeves again.

    BrownsTown… yes – it’s a different level of toughness north of Sylvania…

We realize it’s hard for some to grasp in Columbus, where they hand out wooly-bears below 50-degrees… ; )

After watching Mark May and Brian Griese predict a Wisconsin victory – it will be awesome to watch them choke on that after OSU beats down Wisconsin tomorrow night! We have the best QB combo in the country and I have a feeling Urban and Tom are scheming to get both on the field!

Mark May drinks his own pee!
