NC State will be QB U, for one NFL weekend

Greg Schiano could very well be on his way back to the college sidelines if things do not turn around with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers before the end of the year. This week Schiano generated some buzz with his decision to bench starting quarterback Josh Freeman in favor of rookie Mike Glennon, from North Carolina State.

We’ll leave the analysis of this decision as it pertains to that football played on sundays for the folks over at Pro Football Talk, but one Reddit user brought this interesting nugget to my attention. This weekend in the NFL there will be three starting quarterbacks who played at North Carolina State, one more than Michigan and Florida State. In addition to Glennon, former Wolfpack quarterbacks Phillip Rivers (San Diego Chargers) and Russell Wilson (Seattle Seahawks) will also be in action.

Michigan’s two quarterbacks are Tom Brady at New England and Chad Henne in Jacksonville. Florida State’s two starting quarterbacks are EJ Manuel (Buffalo) and Christian Ponder (Minnesota).

If I had attended NC State I would also take credit for a player that left and went to the BIG. I mean, what else have they got to brag about? Why don’t we just refer to them as “The School That Couldn’t Win the ACC With NFL-Caliber QB’s”?

There could be 3 starting QBs from Purdue by the end of the season, albeit unlikely. Brees of course, Orton, if Romo gets injured, and Painter if the Giants feel like tanking for a better draft pick.

If Wilson counts for NC State, you should count Glennon for Boston College as well. So BC would get two with Glennon and Matt Ryan.

Russell Wilson attended NC State for 4 year. The 1st year as a red shirt freshman QB and a baseball player in 2007. He spent the next 3 years as the starting QB, setting school and national records along the way while playing baseball as well from 2008 – 2010. He also graduated from NC State, in 3 years I might add, and took grad school classes at NC State as well.

He transferred to Wisconsin because he went pro in baseball and NC State had a new QB ready to step up for the 2011 season named Mike Glennon…

Russell Wilson went to Wisconsin for 1 semester. You tell me what school he went to.

ALSO, Mike Glennon never went to Boston College. Not even for a day…
