Starting Gamecocks WR won’t play vs. UCF

South Carolina Georgia Football AP

South Carolina will be down an offensive starter when it takes on UCF in a non-conference road game, the school announced Saturday morning.

Wide receiver Shaq Roland did not travel with his Gamecock teammates to Orlando and will not play against UCF.  Other than an unspecified violation of team rules, no reason for what’s expected to be a one-game sabbatical was given.

Roland is the listed as one of three starting receivers on the Gamecocks’ most recent depth chart.  The sophomore’s backup is junior Damiere Byrd.

Through three games, Roland is tops on the team in receiving yards with 161 yards and third in receptions with eight.  He also caught his second career touchdown pass in the season opener against North Carolina.

    Nothing to see here.

    South Carolina – 49
    Central Florida – 6

    IrishDodger,

    I will take that spread! Where can I lay the money? 43 points……no way…..try somewhere between 15 – 18……

Yeah Irish as big of a USC fan as I am, UCF is a huge trap game…a lot better than people realize. I’d say 17-21 points is more realistic but I don’t see a blowout
