Report: Two Purdue WRs arrested

Purdue wide receivers B.J. Knauf and Jordon Woods were arrested on Monday by Lafayette police, the Lafayette Journal and Courier reported.

The two freshmen were booked into Tippecanoe County Jail on suspicion of theft. They posted bond and were released on Monday night.

The incident reportedly took place at a local mall:

At about 5:30 p.m., Lafayette police were called to Kohl’s within Tippecanoe Mall for reports of two male shoplifters. Woods and Knauf were detained by Kohl’s loss prevention officers after they had allegedly stolen two tie bars, valued at $20 each. The Kohl’s prevention officers recovered the tie bars before police arrived.

Lafayette police then decided there was probable cause and arrested the two men.

Purdue’s athletic department said coach Darrell Hazell was aware of the incident but will let the legal process evolve before taking disciplinary action.

Knauf has played in five games so far for the Boilermakers, catching nine passes for 95 yards. He has also rushed for 90 yards on 11 carries. Woods has yet to appear in a game.
