Shaq Roland suspended for Gamecocks’ next two games, too

South Carolina Georgia Football AP

Expected to be without one of its top vertical threats in the passing game for a single game, South Carolina will instead won’t see his return for a couple of weeks down the road.

Steve Spurrier confirmed Tuesday that Shaq Roland will remain suspended for the Gamecocks’ next two games.  That means the receiver will miss games against Kentucky and Arkansas, and will return (maybe) for the Oct. 19 game at Tennessee.

Roland was originally suspended for the UCF game for unspecified violations of team policies.

Through three games this season, Roland had been tops on the team in receiving yards with 161 yards and third in receptions with eight.

In addition to the surprising announcement on Roland, Spurrier also stated that he will make a decision on a starting quarterback Thursday.  Connor Shaw injured his right (throwing) shoulder against UCF and was originally ruled out for “about 2-3 weeks.”  However, the injury doesn’t appear to be as serious as originally thought as the OBC has yet to officially rule him out.

If Shaw is unable to play, Dylan Thompson would get the start.

Shaq – time to grow up and get with the program! You’re hurting the TEAM!

It appears the “Ole Ball Coach” isn’t going to tolerate guys blowing off team rules, like he did with Garcia. I think he took too much heat for that episode to ever repeat it again.

How are you my friend? Congratulations in beating the South Carolina and LSU this year. I hope the Gov’t shutdown is not effecting your income stream. Tell me, do you happen to know what Adderall is and its effects? I’ve read that is the drug found in the blood of Shaq Roland. Thanks for serving our country.

Adderall is an ADHD drug that helps with focus and concentration when taken as prescribed. It is similar to speed when abused.

    Hey Gamecocker,
This month it didn’t have any affect on me, but I think that is the fact the even though we get paid on the first, the funds were actually allocated for the previous fiscal year for some reason. Next month will be a different story I am afraid.
What little I know about the drug, is it has to be taken in a very strict regiment. Too much and you get high, and I think too little sends you into a depression. If you are to take it every six hours then you have to take it on time.
That LSU game was a nail biter wasn’t it? I knew it was going to come down to whoever had the ball last. We are still waiting on our young backfield to get used to the speed of the game. Starting three freshmen is a lot to ask. The DE and safety freshmen though are doing a good job, so we just need to get the two CB’s in the game now.
Is Shaw going to be back soon. Now he is a guy I enjoy watching at QB, but he seems to take a couple too many chances when he takes off and runs at times, but he sure makes it exciting.
