Gamecocks QB Shaw 100 percent, will start vs Kentucky

South Carolina got some good news Wednesday. Starting quarterback Connor Shaw will start this weekend’s SEC game against Kentucky. Shaw sprained his shoulder last weekend in a road victory at Central Florida. He was removed from the game and did not return, so his prognosis for this weekend’s game should be very encouraging for Gamecocks fans.

The news was made official via the official South Carolina Twitter account Wednesday evening.

Connor Shaw is 100 percent and will start at QB on Saturday vs. Kentucky, Steve Spurrier says. Dylan Thompson will play.

Dylan Thompson filled in for Shaw last week after the starting quarterback was removed with the shoulder sprain injury. The Gamecocks managed to get by without Shaw, with Thompson completing 15 of 32 pass attempts for 261 yards and an interception.

While Shaw is said to be 100 percent, the coaching staff and trainers will surely be keeping close tabs on Shaw’s throwing motion and production as the Gamecocks take on Kentucky. Shaw has thrown for 665 yards and six touchdowns and rushed for 232 yards this season.
