Injured Ash out, McCoy in at QB for Texas

A head injury that’s already cost David Ash one game will cost him another.

While Texas has yet to confirm it, OrangeBloods.com‘s Chip Brown is reporting that David Ash will not play in Thursday night’s game against Iowa State due to the head injury. Ash originally suffered the injury in the Week 2 loss to BYU and sat out the following week’s game against Ole Miss. He returned to start the Sept. 21 win over Kansas State.

However, he was knocked out of the Wildcats game in the first half with a similar injury and did not return.

Case McCoy replaced the junior in the starting lineup vs. the Rebels and in the two games in which was sidelined, and will do the same against the Cyclones tomorrow night.

UPDATED 4:16 p.m. ET: Texas confirmed Wednesday afternoon that David Ash has been ruled out of the Iowa State game Thursday night and will be replaced in the starting lineup by Case McCoy.
