The return of Maryland wide receiver will have to wait just a little longer. Tyrek Cheeseboro, a redshirt sophomore who had been playing a key role on special teams, crashed in to a bus while riding his bicycle and suffered a concussion on Tuesday. Head coach Randy Edsall listed Cheeseboro as out on the latest injury report for Maryland’s big road game at Florida State this weekend.
“He’s lucky [that it wasn’t more serious],” Edsall said of the injury, via The Washington Post. “He’s lucky. He’s a fortunate young man. I think sometimes with situations like that, being an athlete, being in that kind of condition that he was in, I think that helped. But he’s very lucky.”
Cheeseboro has not played this season due to a previous concussion and other injuries.
There is no word on whether or not Cheeseboro was wearing a helmet while riding his bicycle.
