After receiving medical clearance earlier this week, it was thought that Antone Exum would return to the Virginia Tech lineup this weekend.
That return, however, will have to wait another week due to a decision made by the player himself.
In a tweet posted to their Twitter account, the Hokies announced that “Exum will not dress tomorrow per his own choice.” The cornerback "[w]ants to give the knee a little more time before going full game speed.”
Tech hosts North Carolina Saturday afternoon in Blacksburg.
Exum has been recovering from a torn ACL, which he suffered during a pickup game of basketball back in January. He earned second-team All-ACC honors last season.
One of Exum’s replacements, Brandon Facyson, is currently tied for the most interceptions in the country with four. There has been talk that, once Exum is at or near 100 percent, Facyson could be shifted to wide receiver.
