FSU to get Mario Edwards back for game vs. Terps

What has become an unexpectedly huge ACC matchup will see one of the teams getting back one of its most talented defensive players.

Head coach Jimbo Fisher has confirmed the expected, telling reporters that Mario Edwards will return to the playing field for the battle of the unbeatens versus Maryland. The defensive end has missed the past two games with a broken hand.

The injury left Edwards with not only a plate and screws in his hand, but also a desire to get back in the lineup.

“He has had one of the best weeks of practice he has had since he’s been here. I’ve been very pleased,” Fisher said according to the Miami Herald. “I think a little bit of it could be fresh legs — rejuvenated. Sometimes you miss something and it reminds you of how much you like it — how much fun it is to be out there. He’s practiced really well.”

The former five-star recruit, rated as the No. 3 player in the country at any position, played in 11 games as a true freshman last season, starting the last two due to injury. In the two games he’s played this season, he’s been credited with seven tackles and one tackle for loss.
