Nebraska spring star’s cancer in remission

Looking for a little pick-me-up? Weary of partisan politics attempting to run this country straight into the ground, or partisan Big 12 officiating crews attempting to keep Texas from doing the same?

Here’s your elixir.

In April of this year, the unheralded and not-ranked-by-Rivals Jack Hoffman burst on to the college football scene by scoring on a 69-yard touchdown run in Nebraska’s spring game. Hoffman, No. 22 on the field, was not your usual recruit; he was a seven-year old little boy battling brain cancer who the Cornhuskers had adopted.

Nearly six months later? The father of the brave now-eight-year-old boy told the Lincoln Journal Star that his son’s cancer is in remission. The battle against this insidious disease, though, continues.

Jack’s tumor has not grown in the three months since his last chemotherapy treatment, but only about a third of pediatric brain cancer patients in remission won’t relapse.

Now, his family prays Jack is among the fortunate one-third. And they praised the hundreds and thousands of Jack’s fans who have said prayers for him.

God bless Jack. God bless the ESPY-winning little boy at the heart of the Team Jack movement. God bless him, and keep him.
