Utah State’s Chuckie Keeton injures leg, on crutches

Utah State is taking on BYU tonight and things could not have gotten off to a more troublesome start. BYU linebacker Kyle Van Noy intercepted a pass from Utah State quarterback Chuckie Keeton and returned it for a touchdown on the first play of the game. Later in the quarter Keeton was taken out of the game as a result of a potential leg injury.

Keeton was taken out with what appeared to be a left leg injury. His leg was wrapped and had ice put on it before taken to receive an MRI. It would seem as though Keeton’s night is done before the end of the first quarter, but now the question is just how severe the injury is and when he might be able to return to the help the Aggies.

Losing Keeton would be a critical blow to Utah State’s offense. With Keeton, Utah State had all the pieces needed to make a run for the Mountain West Conference championship game, which would mean getting by Boise State. As soon as there is an update on Keeton’s status we will relay whatever becomes available.

Without Keeton on the field, Utah State is going with Craig Harrison. Before tonight Harrison had played in six games and thrown 13 passes.

UPDATE (9:23 p.m. ET): Keeton has returned to the Utah State sideline on crutches.
