Can anyone slow down this Baylor offense? The Bears are once again running (and passing) wild on their opponent. This week’s victim is West Virginia. Baylor is up big on the visiting Mountaineers, leading 56-14. Take a look at some of these numbers, and try to remember these are unofficial halftime stats...
- Baylor has 617 yards of total offense. Baylor had 700 yards of offense against West Virginia last year, but the Mountaineers were able to keep pace and win that game in a wild shootout.
- Baylor has 27 first downs on 51 plays.
- Baylor quarterback Bryce Petty has completed 16 of 24 yards for 342 yards and two touchdowns. The highest passing yard total allowed so far this season by West Virginia was 322 passing yards last week against Oklahoma State.
- Baylor running back Lache Seastrunk has rushed for 172 yards and two touchdowns, and is averaging 11.5 yards per attempt. Brennan Clay of Oklahoma rushed for 170 yards against West Virginia this season, now the previous high for a player.
- Baylor is actually losing the turnover battle, 2-0.
Normally we would wait to see what kind of defensive adjustments will be made at the half, but West Virginia may be better off serving their time thinking about where to get a post-game meal before flying back home to Morgantown.
