Case McCoy to again start in place of David Ash vs. Sooners

For the annual rivalry game that could go a long way in determining the fate of head coach Mack Brown, Texas will once again be without its starting quarterback.

With the game still seven days away. the Longhorns announced that David Ash will once again be sidelined, this time for the Red River Shootout against Oklahoma. Not surprisingly, Case McCoy will start under center for the Longhorns.

Ash has been dealing with a head injury that’s cost him playing time the past few weeks.

Ash originally suffered the injury in the Week 2 loss to BYU and sat out the following week’s game against Ole Miss. He returned to start the Sept. 21 win over Kansas State.

However, he was knocked out of the Wildcats game in the first half with a similar injury and did not return. He also sat out the controversial win over Iowa State Thursday night.
