UGA’s Keith Marshall out with potentially serious knee injury

Georgia’s leading rusher was already sidelined due to injury.  Now, the Bulldogs’ may have lost their No. 2 rusher to an injury that looked decidedly more serious.

Midway through the first quarter of UGA’s game with Tennessee, a Vols defensive back delivered a perfectly legal blow to Keith Marshall‘s knees as he was coming out of the backfield and attempting to catch an Aaron Murray pass.    Marshall was tended to by UGA’s medical staff before being helped off the field.

There’s no word yet on how serious the injury is, although Marshall could be seen burying his head in a towel and appeared to be tearing up on the sidelines as he was being consoled by a stream of teammates and coaches.

On the broadcast of the game, it was only reported that Marshall will not return to this game.

Marshall entered the UT game second on the team in rushing with 213 yards and was replacing Todd Gurley, who traveled with the team but will not play due to an ankle injury.  With Marshall sidelined, the only other healthy tailbacks with carries this season are a pair of freshmen: J.J. Green (five carries) and Brendan Douglas (11).
