Auburn LB Cassanova McKinzy may miss West Carolina game

Auburn linebacker Cassanova McKinzy sustained a stinger or sprain to his neck against Mississippi this past Saturday and therefore his status for the Tigers’ upcoming game with West Carolina is in doubt.

Tigers defensive coordinator Ellis Johnson said McKinzy’s neck was “real sore” and that the team’s medical staff wanted to evaluate him further after 48 hours.

McKinzy hurt himself against Ole Miss and then stayed down on the field for several minutes before being placed on a flat board and taken to the hospital. He later returned to the sidelines wearing a neck brace and street clothes.

The sophomore is third on the team with 23 tackles, including 3.5 for loss and 1.5 sacks. If he can’t go versus WCU, he’ll likely be replaced by junior Justin Garrett.
