Georgia WR Michael Bennett will miss Missouri game

Georgia wide receiver Michael Bennett will have his knee scoped on Tuesday and will not play in the Bulldogs’ next game versus Missouri on Saturday, head coach Mark Richt said on Sunday.

Bennett hurt his right knee in the third quarter of Georgia’s dramatic 34-31 victory over Tennessee. It was the same knee in which he tore ligaments last year.

Losing Bennett for any extended amount of time would be a big blow to the Bulldogs. The junior is third on the team with 14 receptions for 176 yards and two touchdowns. His injury comes in addition to one suffered by second-leading receiver Justin Scott-Wesley, also against the Volunteers.

One thing is for certain: If Georgia somehow wins out despite this rash of injuries, it will have earned its likely berth in the BCS title game.
