Season-ending injury for Syracuse’s Keon Lyn

This one will leave a rather significant mark.

Syracuse announced Monday afternoon that cornerback Keon Lyn suffered a lower-body injury in the 35-point loss to Clemson Saturday and will miss the remainder of the 2013 season. Because Lyn is a senior and the Orange is beyond the threshold of games played for a medical redshirt to be a consideration, the defensive back’s collegiate career is likely over as well.

Lyn will undergo surgery to repair the damage at a later date.

“Our thoughts and prayers go out to him and his mom, Louise,” head coach Scott Shafer said. “It’s a tough deal. [T]he worst part of the sport are these injures. He’s given us a lot, and we’re going to sincerely miss him.”

Over the past two-plus seasons, Lyn has started 24 games, including all five in 2013.
