Pittsburgh’s bye week came at a most opportune time as it has allowed the most important piece of the Panthers’ offensive puzzle to fully heal.
Coming off that bye and heading into a crucial ACC game with No. 24 Virginia Tech Saturday, starting quarterback Tom Savage has been given medical clearance to play against the Hokies. Head coach Paul Chryst revealed the development Monday, adding that Savage will resume practicing with the team Tuesday.
Savage suffered a mild concussion in the fourth quarter of the Sept. 28 win over Virginia.
This season, Savage is third among ACC quarterbacks in yards per game (263) and fourth in passing efficiency (159.1).
Staying on the Pitt injury front, Chryst stated that starting linebackers Shane Gordon (ribs) and Bryan Murphy (ankle) are questionable for the Tech game. Both players missed the UVa. game, although Chryst seemed somewhat optimistic that both would be able to resume practicing at some point this week and play this weekend.
