Todd Gurley ‘doubtful’ as UGA injury issues linger

Unfortunately for Georgia, the injury perspective in its backfield is not looking any better than it was Saturday evening.

Keith Marshall suffered a season-ending knee injury in the win over Tennessee Saturday.  Marshall started the game because Todd Gurley was sidelined with an ankle he suffered the week before.

The way it sounds now, Gurley’s absence could very well bleed into this weekend as well.

Tuesday afternoon, head coach Mark Richt said Gurley is “doubtful” for this weekend’s home game with Missouri.  The sophomore running back has not practiced since suffering the injury in the win over then-No. 6 LSU, and won’t practice today as well.

Gurley (450 yards) and Marshall (246) have accounted for nearly 65 percent of UGA’s rushing offense this season.  If Gurley is unable to go, it would appear the Bulldogs would turn to J.J. Green to carry the bulk of the running game load; stepping in for the injured Marshall, the freshman rushed for 129 yards on 17 carries in the win over UT.

Richt also stated that starting safety Tray Matthews is doubtful due to hamstring issue.  Matthews missed the Vols game due to the injury.

    Gurley = SOFT!

Maybe Coach Richt can say a few prayers and shake some snakes around his ankle to heal it?

You are an idiot. He is nowhere close to soft. The man is injured and can not run.

How many complete games has Gurley played this year?

Complete = didn’t go out with an injury?

    Ankle injury, Quad injury.

Will a pinkie injury sideline him next?

@ dixhead, just curious as to why you have such a problem with UGA and Coach Richt in particular. I am certainly not a fan of UGA but I wonder what makes a person like you make fun of other people’s faith. What is it in people like you who are so fearful of other peoples faith that you feel you a need to bring it into a discussion when it is not even remotely topical to the discussion. Your screen name says it all, you are a person desperately crying out for attention and I will gladly give you some. I want to encourage you that in spite of your often infantile posts on this site, you a person of value. I know hurt people, hurt people, but believe me dix, there are some people out there who could actually like you if you gave them a chance, I think. Just chill and seek the good brother, hard as that may be for you to do.

Hey Kevgko. My 3rd grader has better punctuation than you bro. Throw in an apostrophe every so often. The shift key might come in handy too…

Hey dixiemoron, er, sorry… I mean… what is it??? dixieNORMUS? LOL! Soooo cutsey. Me thinks thou doth protest too much, dixiemoron. Generally infantile trolls like you who rag on other teams like you’re doing here (yeah, that’s an apostrophe), do so as a result of enormous feelings of insecurity and a deep-seated dose of envy. What, your team sucking so much this year you feel the need to submit these juvenile anti-UGA posts here, “normous?” You DO realize, don’t you, that your silly rantings only serve to embellish the levels of your stupidity? Or are you too dumb to get how we’re all laughing at your cry-baby whining? Just sayin’….

I have a lot of respect for Georgia and Mark Richt, which is more than all of us can say for you, Richardhead! It would be hilarious to see you try to diss Gurley to his face instead of from the cowardly keyboard on your mama’s laptop! They’d be scraping you off the sidewalk, IF anyone bothered. Just go crawl back under your rock and stay there, dixie….

    GO (Michigan) BLUE!!!!!!!!

Gurley is a huge talent………when he plays. He is not soft, but definitely injury prone. He doesn’t get hit anymore than any other top back in D1 and at 6’2″ and 240 he should be able to absorb more hits than the average RB. Just because he is injury prone doesn’t make him soft, but his stock as a top back in D1 and at the next level has fallen off dramatically and will continue to do so if he can’t find a way to shake injuries. BTW; beyond Gurley, the boys in Athens are hurting and I smell a big upset this week too.

He sprained his ankle you idiots. Doesn’t have a damn thing to do with being soft or injury prone. It can happen to any player on any play
