Maryland QB C.J. Brown “doubtful” for Virginia

After being knocked out of a 63-0 loss at Florida State last weekend, Maryland quarterback C.J. Brown is doubtful for this weekend’s game against Virginia.

According to The Washington Post, the latest injury report released by Maryland lists the starting quarterback as doubtful, likely meaning he will not play this weekend. Brown suffered a concussion after being on the receiving end of a hard hit by Florida State defensive lineman Jacobbi McDaniel. He did not return to the game in Tallahassee and once it was confirmed he suffered a concussion his availability against Virginia was immediately placed in jeopardy.

With Brown possibly out of action, at least as a starter, look for Caleb Rowe¬†to get the start for the Terrapins. This likely means Maryland will have to run a slightly different or modified form of their offense. Brown’s mobility allowed Maryland to thrive on the zone-read offensive style that has become more trendy around the sport in recent years. Rowe lacks that versatility, which will likely force Maryland to scale back their offense and rely more on the pass.
