Star Mizzou corner leaves game with injury

E.J. Gaines, Julian Jones AP

Perhaps Georgia injury jinx has rubbed off on the visiting Missouri Tigers?

Early in the second quarter, Mizzou cornerback E.J. Gaines went down with what was later said to be a quad strain.  After being taken to the sidelines, Gaines, towel over his head, limped gingerly into the locker room for further evaluation.

Gaines is officially questionable for a return.

Losing Gaines, one of the top corners in the SEC, would be a significant blow to the Mizzou defense.  He leads the team in interceptions with three entering the game and is tied for second in tackles with 32.

With just under eight minutes left in the second quarter, Mizzou has the ball and is driving while holding a 14-10 lead in Athens.
