Arkansas DT Robert Thomas out for season with broken leg

An ugly first half of the season just got uglier for Arkansas as starting Razorbacks defensive tackle Robert Thomas will miss the rest of the season due to a broken leg, head coach Brett Bielema said on Monday.

The senior suffered the injury in Arkansas’s 52-7 loss to South Carolina this past Saturday night. Since he’ll need three-to-four months of recovery time, his playing career is effectively over.

Thomas was off to a nice start this year, notching 31 tackles, 6 tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks before getting hurt. Now that he’s out, look for 345-pound sophomore DeMarcus Hodge to take over his spot.

The schedule does Arkansas no favors, as a road trip to Alabama looms. It was going to be tough to contain the Tide’s run game with Thomas in the lineup. Without him it may be impossible.

Hey Bret enjoying the SEC? How’s Jen’s #karma tweet going in Hogville? Oh well ON WISCONSIN!

Bret might lose more games this year than he did the whole time at Wisconsin. . . not including Rose Bowls.
