Torn pec ends Maryland LB Yannik Cudjoe-Virgil’s season

Maryland outside linebacker Yannik Cudjoe-Virgil has a torn pectoral muscle and will miss the rest of the season, the school announced on Monday.

Cudjoe-Virgil was injured early in the Terrapins’ 27-26 win over Virginia this past Saturday.

While not a starter, the 6-foot-2, 250-pound junior has been a key contributor to 5-1 Maryland’s much-improved front seven. The Terrapins are in the top 40 nationally in both scoring defense and total defense and Cudjoe-Virgil has 18 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, 3 sacks and an interception.

The injury comes at a bad time for Maryland, which also lost starting outside backer Matt Robinson for three to four weeks due to a shoulder injury.
