Clemson DE Shaq Lawson expected to play against FSU

Clemson defensive end Shaq Lawson dislocated a shoulder last weekend against Boston College but he should be ready to play against Florida State this Saturday, Tigers coach Dabo Swinney said on Tuesday.

“Shaq told us Sunday that he should be fine,” Swinney said. “And everybody else should be OK, too.”

That’s good news for Clemson as Lawson, a 6-foot-3, 270-pound redshirt freshman, is third on the Tigers with 6.5 tackles for loss. He has 18 tackles in all and two sacks as part of a unit that is second nationally with 24 sacks. Getting pressure on Seminoles freshman quarterback Jameis Winston is going to be vital to Clemson’s success, so having Lawson and the rest of his cohorts at full speed is key.

Saturday’s matchup between FSU and Clemson is the first between two top five teams in Death Valley history.
