USC WR Marqise Lee expects to be ‘good to go’ for Notre Dame

The chances of USC pulling off the upset over Notre Dame in South Bend this Saturday improved markedly after Trojans wide out Marqise Lee said on Tuesday that he should be 100% against the Irish.

Lee missed USC’s last game against Arizona after spraining his knee the previous week against Arizona State. The injury looked to be season-threatening at first but it was later found that his ligaments had not been torn.

Even without Lee, the Trojan offense looked much improved against the Wildcats. USC piled up season-highs of 546 total yards and 297 passing yards as it worked to avoid the predictability of the Lane Kiffin playcalling regime.

Despite missing last week’s game, Lee is still the Trojans leading receiver with 30 catches for 385 yards. When healthy, he’s as dangerous a playmaker as there is in the game, so having him against the Irish is a huge positive for the Trojans.

No matter how much their coaches will tell them this is a huge rivalry game, the Notre Dame players will underestimate USC’s game day energy and lose by 10.

I don’t think anybody has to tell ND (or USC) players that this is a rivalry, as it’s been going on since 1926. Many a player has been recruited by both sides based on getting to play in this game each year.

As a Trojans fan I’d love to get out of South Bend with a victory, but I won’t hold my breath. Both these programs understand the importance of this game in their attempts to salvage their seasons.

Like I said, ND underestimates USC and loses.

    Notre Dame 34
    USC 17

Irish have a huge night rushing the football.

Two big stats to look at end of the game,

    Turnovers by USC
Time of Possession in favor of ND

I like the optimism Irishfan but based on the first half of the season, I’m convinced the key stat of the game is turnovers by ND. If the coaching staff puts the outcome of the game on the arm of Rees, they will lose by double digits. That’s not fair to Rees…he is only equipped to manage the game.

Would love to see Hendrix thrown into the mix more, and have him pass it a few times. Both teams seem to always be ready for this game.
