Kenan Stadium gets makeover for UNC’s ‘Zero Dark Thursday’

Zero Dark Thursday

North Carolina is pulling out all the stops trying to upset No. 10 Miami tonight in Chapel Hill, pushing a crowd blackout cleverly deemed “Zero Dark Thursday.” UNC will also wear black uniforms against Miami.

But the blackout isn’t just extending to the stands — UNC is ditching its famed baby blue for a new look tonight (hat tip to CollegeSpun):

The usual baby blue with white outlines is gone for tonight, replaced by the black with baby blue outlines. It’s a sharp look, but whether a 1-4 Tarheels squad that’s lost three in a row will look as good remains to be seen. Miami is 5-0 coming off a bye week and is a 10-point favorite tonight.

On paper UNC doesn’t have much of a chance to win. Let’s hope that the “Zero Dark Thursday” theme hypes up the fans and players enough to make this a game worth watching. Stranger things have happened. Maybe UNC can pull an upset.
